The Cup That Counted..!!

I started watching cricket when I was a just a 8 or 9 year old fella, that too because my cousins were crazy fans of it. It was a time, when all I knew was, how players run between the wickets to make more runs. The wides, no balls, LBW’s, difference between a six and a four, everything seemed to have no meaning for a novice like me.

From that nascent stage, I saw a player who was considered to be a very good batsman (at that time, now obviously, he is legendary). The batsman was none other than Sachin Tendulkar. And that aroused an interest of watching each and every match which transformed me into a cricket savvy. Slowly and steadily, watching Sachin became a synonymous of cricket to me. I started watching each and every match which India used to play.

Then came some more tournaments, where I still remember India’s innings. Saw some demises and some terrific moments of Indian team with few players leaving and few joining in. But from the time, it became more than a hobby to watch cricket till today when we are the proud owners of the World Cup, there is just 1 man who is there throughout as a consistent player and reached pinnacle of success. Sachin Tendulkar.

I remember seeing the World Cup semi final of India vs Sri Lanka in 1996 where bottles were being thrown by the outrageous spectators. And today, just when we have beaten Sri Lanka in the finals to conquer the World cup, I feel that I've really grown older watching cricket.

Anyways, the purpose of writing was not just to boast of Tendulkar, but also for the electrifying entire team India who has gratified us with the most amazing moment an Indian could ask for. Today I just feel right for my madness towards the game and makes me believe that “Some Dreams Do Come True” (India winning the world cup). I am also writing this so that when years later, I read my blog, I can still feel the ecstasy of this moment.

So, after seeing a nail biting or rather a nail paint chipping match today, we have got something which we can blabber entire our lives and tell our children & grandchildren, of how it felt great to be in the same era where Sachin is/was considered to be the God of cricket. Will always remember Kohli's words "Tendulkar has carried the burden of the nation for 21 years. It is time we carried him on our shoulders." That sums it all..!!

Thank You Team India- Sachin, Gambhir, Sehwag, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Zaheer, Bhajji, Virat, Raina, Munaf. Ok will count Sreesanth too ;) We feel proud of the vivacious team which has veterans and youngsters who equally contributed to bring home the glory. You are our real heroes and you all will be remembered forever as the best World Cup Squad.

In a country, which has some big fat mean corruptive people , there is also an altruistic team India which made us simply spellbound by their majestic win.

Thank You
A Crazy Indian
